Tranny ?

I was wondering what could have happened inside my tranny to cause it to burn up?

I know that a couple of weeks ago when I went to fill the truck up with gas when I pulled up a ticking started, and it was not from the engine. Cause we opened the hood and listend to it, nothing, then got on the ground and heard it by the tranny. When truck was in park noise went away, when it went in gear noise started. I am think the pump went. What are your thoughts?

It would help if we knew what tranny it was, but if it was a TH something, like mine, then it was the sprag that fell apart. It is a weak link behind a motor that makes decent power. Also it is burnouts in drive that wear it out. OTherwise the books say that the planetary gearset or its thrustwashers got hurt.
