hey guys, was wondering if anybody has an old conversion manual they would be willing to sell to me? i can\'t find the courage to spend $30 on a book. seems dumb. lol. but i have also heard they are awesome to have and well worth the money. so i just thought i would check on here to see if someone had an old one they were done with. thanks alot! if you have one, email me at fought70@hotmail.com. bye

You might want to try half.com or ebay if no one decides to get rid of theirs.I really dont know if anyone is really ever really finished with it.I still use mine for reference....Jay

that manual is a bunch of tbi-tpi bullcrap and is very misleading and is made to be leagal with the smog laws of california and lets see their fastest truck runs high 13\'s and thats at sea level and what else ohh yeah they dont get into 9inch rear ends and shortning axles because thats not practical in their eyes nor do they tell you any way to do the swap other then the way they do it which i think is a bunch of shade tree mechanics that over compliment themselves and yeah if you could buy the book for 3 bucks i guess that might be worth it

The book is very good. It deals with daily drivers not hotrods. If Bustinwood had bothered to read it, he would understand this. The nice thing about the manual is it gives you a basic understanding of whats gonna fit, whats not and why and how to get around it if need be. Its vague in places but you must understand that no 2 of these swaps are alike. You\'ve come to the right place by coming here for assistance in your project.

If you want an all out racer setup and dont care about emissions and mileage, then go with what ever you can find. The book also is geared to do the simplest swap possible with the most reliability. Again, it is geared to the daily driver that wants more power than the stock engine.

yeah well ill have plenty more power then stock i wont have an all out race truck it will be street driven i just thought they were kind of gay when they were talking about all this power they were creating and only runing high 13\'s in california and bragging about how good of a mechanics they are and blah blah it is dynoed at blah blah blah and use a 700rh blah blah blah yeah lets see how fast we can go with a 700r4 with a lock up blah blah blah

I think that 2 essential things are patience and endless research for taking a design and turning it into your \"new and improved\" design. I think that the swap manual is not necessary to do the swap, but a lot of research will pay you back in the long run. Get as many books on the topic as possible. my 2C

The 20.5 ET is a joke. If you really think you can come up wiith a better book, by all means, go for it. Im sure the rest of us here will be glad to look it over.

The book clearly states that there are other ways to do it and that there way is by no means the only or best. Its just one of many. My swap is not going by there books at all but they were a great reference, esp the pics. I know of only one other s-truck with the engine im planning but none are 4x4. Im considering doing a book but most likely just a website so others can benifit from my errors.

What engine did you use? what year/body style? Forward or rear mounting?
