I have a stock 85 S10 with 2.5L, only mods are 2/3 drop. Getting ready to start collecting parts for the V8 swap and am wondering if it\'s best to simply buy the Stealth motor mounts rather than attempting to fabricate my own. Are there any other motor mounts available that are recommended? There are some copies on Ebay which look okay. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

personally i like the mounts offered by trans-dapt,the hedders by hedman, sanderson if you use the shorties, hookers for longtubes and skinnie tires up front.. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

The Td performance kit worked great for me. Along with the Headman Longtubes

I would get the s10v8 kit lite, it comes with the stealth mounts and the Hedman headers, and they work awesome together. The only other thing I would recommend getting is the frame mounts for the 2.8, the 2.5 frame mounts will not work with the mounts, if I am not wrong here, I don\'t thing the 2.5 frame mounts work with any of the engine mounts made for this swap. Get them here as a kit, buy them separately, do what you want, but get the right parts for the swap, eliminate as many headaches as you can. These parts work. Thanks guys,

For the most part, I\'ve talked with others and most suggest the Stealth mounts. I am planning on keeping it simple for now with a 305 from a 84 Z28 with a TH350 and stock manifolds. Gonna try and keep it low key stock looking....until ya step into it. (The way GM should have built it - would have been an AWESOME option! )

What kinda power does that have? Most 305\'s to my knowledge werent\' much more powerful than a newer 4.3\'s. And a lot heavier. Just something to think about before you do the work. On the other hand, most of the works done when you wanna swap that out for a mild small block.

i went with a 305 the first time around, ran it for a year and a half. zz4blazer is right, the work is done when you put the 350 in later, we did the 305 to 350 swap in about 8 hours on my truck.

That was part of my \"plan\", get the motor changed over to the 305 and drive it for a while. Then begin collecting parts to build a 350 or 400. I\'ve got a stock 3.42 posi rearend but am hesitant on how much motor it can take. I\'d like to take it to the dragstrip occasionally and would hate to find the torque limitations of the stock rearend the hard way. But that would just prompt me to ask the wife for more money...hey there\'s an idea!

Buy first - ask later. It worked for me. You just need to butter them up a little while the parts are in transit.

Been there , done that...bought a new Honda Shadow motorcycle a couple years ago. She thought I was joking until I rode it home. Actually she\'s the one nagging for me to do something with this ole truck. (Keep it or kill it)

i\'ve got a stock 3:42 psoi in my \'87 (diff\'s from a \'91\") i\'ve been running it for a couple months and having no problems at all... they are almost identical carriers to a camaro or trans am providing they are the 7 5/8\" not the 7.5... my buddy has a 383 stroker and a 225 shot of nitrous on his trans am and it handles it so the way i see it drive it untill it scatters the gears... but don;t plan on running slicks and a huge stall... as for mounts i made my own pretty simple and used stoke exhaust manifolds off a cutlass... but that was when i had the 305... (by the way they\'re junk i dropped a valve and i just thought it was a blessing so i could build a new motor) with a 305 you shuld be able to keep it cool with a 4.3 s-10 rad if you mount it right against the rad suppert you can get away with a long water pump and a 1\" spacer and flexalite plastic flex... i ran this combination with the 305 and ran 180 degrees all day long even with a stock 350 it will stay cool
