good luck with getting a response. I\'ve tried contacting them on other topics and they never respond... then again they do get hundreds of emails per day.

The main reason I understand is that they couldn\'t get them to pass crash tests. Other than that is was probably just practicality. They ran the Syclones and Typhoons for a few years but they didn\'t last long either.

At that time, nobody wanted to spend that kinda money on a truck, or SUV.

Both of which have shit for a payload, and piss for towing.

That, and the vettes around those years werent\' the quickest either. Hows it gonna look when a trucks almost as quick as your #1 performance vehicle.

It is nice to know they took your suggestion after they discontinued the s-10. We ought to write them a letter suggesting putting a V12 into the Chevelle. See if you get the same response.

Even if they did put a 8 in a s10 or a ranger it would be a mildly built one. I don\'t see a Ls6 motor in a s10. I think GM would give it 260hp. Maybe 300hp if they get a wild hair.

I doubt they give the colorado a v8. It\'s biggest motor is a inline 5cyl with 220hp. It is an Ungly truck anyways.

10-29-2003, 11:37 AM
Once again it comes down to practicality. Most of their buyers won\'t need 400hp. There\'s gas gusslers tax and crap now, and even most performance cars have econo qualities to them.

yea, thats great. ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION. im gonna email em again and tell em they didnt answer the question. i want a real answer

smittie, you got a better chance of seein god, bigfoot, the loch ness monster, beelzebub, and a gray all in the same place than you do of seeing a v12 in a chevelle.

It was a joke. I know that the odds of GM putting a v12 into a chevelle is very slim. Mainly because they haven\'t built it for over 30 years. It is the same chance as a v8 in a s10 from GM. There is no more s10. It has been replaced by the Chevy Colorado.

I was saying if you wrote the same letter except put Chevelle and v12 in place of s10 and v8 you would get the same response.

And by the way. I have seen a jaguar v12 in a Chevelle. Wasn\'t too fast but unique. Had a magazine featuring a challenger with a viper v10.

Also check out this months issue of GM High Tech performance. In it you will se a v8 s10 and a s10 with a helicopter motor that runs in the 15s. It isn\'t a main article but look around and you will see it.

i know it was a joke. i was just bein stupid and i know i got about the same chances of ever seein a factory s10v8. i just figgered id so to the source and find out why. to no avail. for the record im not a fan on the colorado. i dont much like the styling or the choice of powerplants. for the record also, im really not a fan of the new chevys period. they took the same front end mold from the silverado and put it on everything. lest i run the risk of raising anyones blood pressure anymore than i already have i think ill stop there. theres better ways to strike a nerve on this website, talk about f**ds and or ricers.

Maybe if the website asked as a whole we would get a reply. We are an orginization of good size and might have some pull if we applied ourselves. Maybe get the other s10 websites on it.

My uncle is a engineer for Gm and he does not have time or the means to look through every letter. But he does look at websites. He told me of the demise of the camaro and s10 at my grandpas funeral back in 98. Needless to say the people who know are busy. But they will listen to big groups of people.

But I think the real reasons had already been said.

Whats a contact point that we can all send (read: flood) them with this? This is a valid question that about everyone here and many others would like to know the answer. Especially since we all know that it will fit and how well they run.

If we, a bunch of shade-trees, are able to put V8s into our s-bodies, keep emitions legal, good or better than stock milage and better than stock reliability, GM could surely have done it also and possibly done it better.

smittie1984
10-30-2003, 09:47 AM
We need to get the head person of this site to write a letter on our behalf. And when we write the letter we can\'t sound like...\"Dear chevy. what the heck is your malfunction you dumb sons of...\" See how that sounds.

Now lets try this.

\"To whom it may concern.

We here at s10v8.com are a website dedictated to putting v8 motor into s-series vehicles. We are over 4000 members strong and many of our members have or are fixing to put a v8 powerplant into our motor. Since we are capable of doing this we were qurious to why GM has never attempted the same...\"

Doesn\'t that sound better. Try to sound like their letter that they sent you. I also suggest a letter not in the form of email. There are a lot less snail mail coming in and would be recongnized more easily than the 10,000 e-mails they receive probably in a hour.

Also get the other website on this. If that doesn\'t work try getting a car magazine to pop the question. If none of that works you can do like Andy Dufrain did in the Shawshank Redemption. keep writing letters until they respond.

And by the way I would like to know why they didn\'t put a v8 in a s10 but I am glad they didn\'t.

hell yes i enjoyed it. its almost like a drug. once you start its never finished, always gotta find ways to get more, make it better. and im definately glad they never put a v8 in an s10 from the factory, id just like to know why. if they did this website might very well not exist. you figure theres over 4000 of us, all with a v8 in each of our respective trucks or soon to have a v8. your a fool to think the only people that put a v8 into an s series truck is on this website. theres gotta be thousands more.

enough of you on here expressed some interest in emailing gm with the same question. so heres the email address:

cac@chevrolet.com (http://cac@chevrolet.com )

fire at will gentlemen. i think it would be an awesome idea to get mike to do it with all of ua behind him. we just might get an answer.

yeah... actually its better that they didn\'t. i don\'t want to pull up with that mean sound and have someone say \"oh, guess thats one of those s10\'s with the v8 option\", I want them to say \"what the hell... that sounds like... a v8???\"

I dont think a v8 s10 would sell too good either, not like a sports car would. If people want something fast they want something that looks fast, not a grocery getting econo truck(not my views just know what \"normal\" people think). And besides people would try pulling huge things with them and their axles and frames and breaks would fail.

smittie1984
10-30-2003, 07:12 PM
I agree. I always wanted a v8 s10 since I was 15. Now I am 19 and wanting one still. But working on it. The s10 is directed at two age groups. Young people like me and Old people. Most people who could afford a V8 and insurance are not into little compact trucks but into the New Z71 or the Dodge Hemi. You know. Big trucks that make them look like Big men.

But anyways do you think GM is going to make a youth based truck with a 400hp motor. Or even 300hp. I know for a fact that if I had a v8 s10 when I was 16 I would be dead right now. I give my 4.3 hell. I\'m not saying that I have matured much but know a little more.

It would be like the Street Bike craze now. I know tons of kids in high school with them. And plenty of them who are going to be dead. I already told them I\'m not going to their funerals. I use to be in love with crotch rockets when I was 16. My neighbor use to have one (who now has a v8 s10). But thank God I fazed out of that.

I\'m not kidding myself though. I know I will get into plenty of trouble with my truck.

I want them to say \"what the hell... that sounds like... a v8???\"

the shock value of it is great. theres no denying that. when you pull up to full service and pop the hood and tell em to check the oil. so far the most common answer ive gotten when they get the hood open \"HOLY SHIT!?!?!?\" immediately followed by \"is that a smallblock?/did you put that in there?\"

try this out too. go to your local auto parts store. ill use myself as an example: \"i need a waterpump for an 86 s 10 blazer\"

fool behind the counter: \"what motor?\"

me: \"305\"

then watch em try to figure it out.lol

i went to wal mart to get my tires changed not too long ago. so i drop it off and leave, come back an hour later. the truck is finished, and they got the hood open. NO work bein done in the entire place. every friggin tech, and a few of the employees from in the store was standin around my truck slack jawed. they definately aint the quickest ones around but it definately makes you feel good that your vehicle can make all work in a shop cease.

My first car was an 84 s10 blazer auto 2wd and 2.8L I gave that poor truck hell and it still is going. in 24 now and my current truck is an 86 4x4 blazer with a 4 speed. I would say that my love for trucks has kept my alive. Back then it was neat. This SUV crase had not started. Insurance was cheep and my girlfriend at the time really liked the rear folding seat http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

From day it did feel puny in the power dept.

When a friends dad took us to the track in his typhoon, I knew then that I had to have one. When I found out the cost, heart skipped a beat. So, i started saving money give my 2.8 a paxton blower.

Long story short, (no blower) knew a 350 was the way to go. In 98, that was when about when the shift started from real cars to the \"fast and the fuel efficient\" wanna-bees.
