View Full Version : tranny question
I dont think my turbo 350 is gonna be able to hold my motor, so i was thinking a turbo 400. Could i get by with my th350 with about 475lbs of torque? Anyone got a th400 for sale?

475lbft is just about the limit 500is what TCI and them talk about. TH400s are great, just get one that is pre 69 for the direct clutch drum and sprag. The roller clutch they used after 69 sucks and busts like the tH350. You can also get a later tranny and just get the matching drum and sprag. I bought a TH400 out of a 1980 C30 and it has deep pan and hi performance parts all around, except that damned roller clutch. To replace it is about $90+sh. There is at least 4 TH400s on sale on Ebay and I know someone in Kansas that has a 66 or 69 for sale for a $100. Let me kniow if you need help. I am in the middle fo doing the same thing, so that is why I know this.
