i have an 83 gmc s15 extended cab 2 wheel drive with a 2.0 4 cylinder and a 5 speed. i want to swap in a 327 i have built, but i want to keep the truck 5 speed. can i keep the linkage clutch and still fit headers, or will i have to convert to hydraulic? i can get camaro manifolds if they would work, but i would rather have headers. also, if i got the whole 4.3 motor mount setup, would a small block bolt right up, or would i still have to get a mount kit. thanks, mike millerundefined

your going to need to remove the 4.3 mounts and go with the 2.8 one`s

as far as reusing your existing trans setup, i cant answer that, i have an automatic

Do not try to modify that tranny to work. I\"m assuming that its the T5. If you want to keep it a 5 speed, find one from a newer( like 90+) s-series with the 4.3. They will have a New Venture tranny. That is the easiest to swap in. You can tell these from other s-10 tranny\'s because they have no separate bellhousing. Its all one peice, like an automatic. You will need to pick up the hydrualic linkage though. I got mine from the dealership for less than $100. I\'m not sure how that mech. linkage is, but you\'ll probably wanna pick up the brackets and pedals from that truck too. Just in case you\'d need them. Probably just have to drill 3 holes to mount the clutch master cylinder on the firewall. I ran that set up, with a set of Sanderson shorty headers with 2.5 true duals, and had no problems I used the JTR motor mounts, and had to use the 2.8 frame mounts. Different comanies use different frame mounts. Even if you would get the 4.3 frame mounts, you will still need to get some conversion mounts to bolt to the motor. Unless your gonna make some of your own.
