I would go with the one that is more in your budget, since that seems to be my biggest issue every time. If that is not a problem, then bigger numbers mean bigger power.

I have a 87 longbed with a 11.0 to 1 406 afr 195 heads and 574 soilid roller and my truck can be driven anywhere and it has run a best so far of 11.98 at 114 mph with a 1.77 60 foot with high gear going out of the trans. I wouldn\'t trade my 406 for any 350!!

I have a late model roller cam 350. About 10.5-1, Trick Flow G2 heads, XR288HR Comp cam, RPM intake, and a 750 carb (I switch back and forth between a Holley DP and Edelbrock). I have run 12.7, and think I have some left in it. It is a good driver an will rev past 6500 if you are not careful, but still makes power down low.

Oh, by the way, my next motor will be either a 377 or 400, but will be less of a street motor.

Go with the 400, thats what I\'m building to replace my 350.

Gonna get a little OT, but how well does your truck drive?

I should be upgrading my top end this spring, but I belive the cam smaller than yours. I think its the XE282HR, I don\'t remember. But with some AFR heads. What kinda trap speed are you running @ 12.7? That should easily put you low 12\'s.

If your starting from scratch with both motors, I\'d probably go bigger.

i would use the 350 in the s10 just because there easyer to cool

I trap out at about 113, but im doing a gear change and am hoping for more. I am also ditching the getrag for a 700r4, I think that will also help. The stock 5spd gear spacing sucks.

Yeah bro. That 113 says low 12\'s all over it.

Yeah, thats what I figured. I\'ve seen quicker cars with slower trap speeds, and my 60\' times are always well into the mid 2\'s. I\'m currently gathering parts for an auto conversion, and am contemplating a Tremec TKO for the future.

Hey maybe i will put this 350 in my 83z28 5 speed car. What kinda combo and times are you guys running with these late model motors. Are they better than regular 350 motors?I thought about a 377 like the one in my 68 camaro race car but that motor likes alot of gear.I would work better with the 5 speed though.Let me know what i can do with a set of vortec heads and a late model hydraulic roller motor.

Get the heads machined for better vavle springs.

10:1, the LT4 HOT cam kit, RPM Air gap intake, and a750 carb is a dyno proven 400+ hp motor. I think most were getting around 410-415 hp.

I like those blocks over the older style. 1 peice rms is less likely to leak, and you have the roller capabilities. I believe most are 4 bolt mains also.
