Possible knocking????

I have a new 350 all rebuilt and i hear a knocking noise in it. I thought it was the lifters hitting the valve covers, but that wasn\'t it. It seems to be coming from the passenger side valve cover. It only does it when the motor gets hot. when we disconnect #1 spark plug, it does not do it. Budy of mine thought it may be a wrist pin, any ideas???

Check the timing and the gas. Add some octane booster. You might just have slightly higher compression in that cylinder. Make sure that cylinder has gas running to it by reading the plugs and if you can measure exhaust temperature. Teh cylinder running lean burns hotter. If all that is out, then check the pcv valve. On my motor the PCV is the loudest thing besides the exhaust.
