body lifts are easy you just have to watch you don\'t break the bolts off...i did and it has been a pain in the butt.you can get a 3\" body lift like mine from summit for like 69.00 or so.. not bad for the price as for suspension trailmaster makes a 5\" for around 1100 from tyres1.com is a cheapest place i have found.superlift makes a 2\" but not worth the money in my opinion and you will go through ball joints too plus is $450 so if you can deal with seeing the frame more i would go with the body lift

Lifts on S10\'s are a * because they use IFS. You can get the Trailmaster 5 inch which is a pretty decent lift, but it\'s a lot of work cutting and redoing brackets and whatnot, and in the end you\'re still using IFS. I guess it\'s fine if you\'re more into the road pounder stuff and not really into wheeling it. The real way to go is SFA swap on the front, however it\'s some good work to do that too. I guess it depends on your function, you can do a 3\" body lift pretty easily just to run slightly larger tires.

3\"body lift is pretty easy to do. It is also not expensive, I think I paid @ $70. The first one I did took @ 1 1/2 hours. (1/2 hour work and 1 hour to \'read\' the directions. I used a twin post lift. The second on I did with 1 other person took @ 2 hours. I used 4 floor jacks with 8x8 block of wood on top of each jack.If you doit the second way, make sure your helper works at the same speed as you. The truck must go up and be set down at the same speed.

The 3\" body lift was a great big help in giving good clearance for sbc installation. Also I have the left side exhaust ran between the floor and the cross member. It makes it easier to repair the clutch and tranny when needed.- Dont have to remove exhaust at all.

I allowed the slip shaft to lenghten and have had no problems. I have a 5spd and a manual transfer case. I had to grind the floor a little so I could pull the t-case into low. And with the 5spd shifter, to get it to shift into 2nd, 4th & reverse, I just had to remove some of the bottom(next to the console) of the plastic trim housing.

I\'m not sure with an automatic, but I think loosen the adjuster bolt and readjust it.

With the lift on an automatic, extend the shift linkage the same amount of the body lift.

A body lift will make it so much easier to undo the bell housing bolts on the transmission.

But to cover up the ugly gap in the fender wells my father got some thick heavy rubber and mounted it to the fender so it hangs over the frame. But its still flexibleso i can actuallly snake a rachet and socket through there to pull spark plugs. I am pretty sure that if you do a body lift you will have a gap between the body and the bumpers too. so be prepare to raise the bumpers up.

You have to raise the bumbers as well and will need new brackets

the only thing that u have to watch out for with a body lift is if the body is 3\" higher than the frame, over time, the body can move out of alignment. not a big deal, just something to watch out for
