has anyone on this site put this stroke in a stock 400 block? if so what grinding did you have to do and what rods did you use?

i think the 3.85 crank has 350 main\'s....chevy made a 383 using this crank instead of a 3.75 ..cause it was only a 377 ci...but they wanted to keep it a 383 cause of the name the 383 has had....the 383 has a 4.30 bore and the chevy hp motor has just a 4.00 standard bore....that\'s what i have read..

The 383HT uses a 3.8 stroke. The 3.875 stroke in a 400 makes 421 cubes (with .030 overbore). Check with some of the late model or modified circle-track folks in your area. That\'s getting to be a fairly common setup in the dirt track wars, so the local engine builders for them should be familiar with what it takes. We are limited to 330 cubes so I can\'t tell you first hand, but that big inch stuff sure looks good at the swap meets.
