Hi guys. I have my sbc with v belts installed in my truck but would like to convert to serp belt. What rpm\'s are serp belts good til? I mean is there a rpm limit that you can push a serp belt? If so, what is it or how can I find out? Thanks

serpentine belts are good for alot of Rpm ranges, the big issue with them is alignment, they are not as forgiving as a v belt. I run a 6 rib on my sbc for everything, the only issue is balanceing tension for the blower without takeing out bearings in the alternator ect

I don\'t remember seeing any reverse rotation water pumps claiming to be good to 8000 RPM or anything, so I think sticking to a v-belt setup may be your best bet if high RPM operation is important. Unless there is some other reason to go serpentine, if it works don\'t change it.

I run a serp setup on my truck off of a 4.3 engine but I DON\'T HAVE power steering on it so it runs just like a vbelt set up without ps, but you have to file the holes in the waterpump pully to make it work on a standerd waterpump and I DON\'T run a tensioner and I have had my motor to 7200 without blowing a belt off.
