ive heard so many people on here saying that puttin an at1 into an s 10 is a royal pain in the balls. whats the major difference between a normal everyday 350 and an lt1? are the blocks different? different metals? different design? im askin b/c there a dime a dozen on ebay right now and im tossin the idea around of buying one for my upcoming 350 project.

I think its all the fuel injection/ electrical computers part of the conversion. I think! Most people who tke on a task such as a v8 conversion are mechanicly inclinded. But, Most people, in general, aren\'t wire friendly.
I bet the guy at microsoft cringes every time he hears about a mechanic opening thier desk top computer with a greasy screw driver that they took out of the engine compartment of thier s10.

I believe you need to do some frame mods for the accessories. I can\'t remember which it is, but something hits the frame on the right side.
Other than that, wiring. Thats the biggest problem. Not just wiring it in, but bypassing the vats, stuff like that. Most people that try to drop in a LT1, aren\'t familiar with the motor. If you know or own a f-body with a LT1, it should be a peice of cake.

screw the wiring. i got all the wiring in place. im gonna keep it tbi. the only thing i can think of thats on the right side of the frame is the p/s pump and even thats nowhere near the frame. so i take it the bracketry is somehow different? im guessing the internals are too?

I\'m in the process putting a LT1 in my 1991 S10 now and they are right. Frame mods, wiring, fuel, they are all a big puzzle. I started out by getting the JTR book on V8 swaps and read it cover to cover then started over reading it again. I have a few pictures on my web page and will keep it updated as I get things done. It\'s not a weekend project for sure. I was chicken and farmed out the wiring harness because I could not find anywhere a service manual for a 1995 Camaro that I could use the wiring schematic. Good luck with your project and feel free to email me and I can tell you what I have done so far.

The Corvette LT1 requires no frame notching but the F-body LT1s do. Accessory placement is the diff.
