i have an 87 s10 project now and me and my friend were talking in school and he said \"oooo yea i have a 307 for you you can have it for free\" so i said HELL YES i bought an engine lift went over and picked it up i get home look up the casting nubers and is a pathetic 267 chevy(i never even heard of it). Why would chevy ever make such crap? so im going to mess around with this engine anyways. Port the heads intake exhasut crazy cam and put a t4 turbo with 10 lbs of boost (dont care if i blow this engine) im hoping for 400 hp. It\'l hold me over till i get a F@&* 9\" rear with a detroit locker and then drop in my 383 twin turbo

The 267 sbc uses the 350 crank, but the bore is 3.500 inches, not exactly performance material.

A 267 came out just before the 283\'s.

The 267 came in Camaro\'s in the late 70\'s early 80\'s. The dark ages of the American Auto Industry. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_frown.gif

The built 267s from 1979 to 1981 and I didn\'t know they put them in Camaros Just Monte Carlos.

Our first racecar motor was bought thinking it was a 350 but we found out at the end of the season it was a 267 http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

i have a 267 that i have on my airboat its cast is 280, haha but for one thing is for sure 600cfm quadrajunk and strait headers makes it sound pretty beasty, but other than that it pushes me fast enough to catch alligators head befor they go underwater.

I say you build a bulletproof bottom end and get that little peanut popper to spin up to 11 f*$%in grand! and piss on all those import drivers heads! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

267ci were installed in V8 Monza\'s and a few \'79 Nova\'s. They are boat anchors. Chevys attempt for better polution control. YUK!!!!

that about sums it up.

i have to agree, build a bulletproof bottom end and spin the bastard to 11 grand. smallblocks turnin high rpm\'s sound awesome.

i say go get an lt1 then while your at it get the crank out of a baby lt1 and make an lt1 302. then spin that to the moon.

i had a 1980 malibu with a 267 it had a flat cam when i got it so i put in a comp. 270 cam and lifters, headers and a single flow master exhaust it sounded good but it moved like a snail.beat the crap out of it and it held togather for a few years.but take it from me don\'t waste your time with this motor

There were 265, 283 and 327s in the early days of the sbc. The 267 is newer than the 265.

The 265 was the original sbc. Then the 283 came out in 1957 & stayed for several years.

The 327 was in 1962, the 302 & 350 in 1967. The 262 came out in Monzas/Novas in 1975. 305\'s came out in 1976. The 267 arrived in 1980 as a smog motor. No good use other than filling space that a 350 would go into later. Monte Carlos, Malibus, Impalas came with them. I doubt you could spin one fast enough to see 11000 rpm due to the head & valve designs. The bore is too small to get good heads onto.

don\'t waste your time!! honestly sell it to someone who wants a 267 for resto-purposes and use that cash to buy yourself a junkyard 350. 350\'s are SOOOOOO cheap now. And someone might actually pay some money for that 267 since they are not that common

I agree, the 267 block is a joke for any performance build, but the crank in that block is lighter and can make a faster reving 305 or 350... I did this in a 305 V8 76 nova once and it ran great, I ran the living Sh#t out of it and it never blew, it has about the same effect as big bore pistons or a lighter flywheel... I never tried the 267 crank in a 350 though because the imbalance may rattle the rods loose, for 350's I put a 305 crank in for the same effect... I know some or all of you may frown on this, but it works and I have never blown one up yet, but then I'm not trying for 11 grand either... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

another way to id an old 265 is they had no oil filter boss on them. I didn't know that til my engine builder taught me that.

I'm thinking, but not 100% sure, that only the '55 265s had the "remote" oil filter. I think the '56 265s had the oil filter boss on the block like the 283s & bigger.

First for me. But I'm thinking it's borrowed from pontiac or olds??? Since it has GMC on it I'm assuming it could be anything from General Motors. But for sure I've ever seen anything exactly like that. Kinda looks like the 2.8L V6 but bigger!
