i have my motor now and im in the process of rebuilding it. A problem i still have is the transmission, i have the 5 speed and i want to keep it that way. I have been told that i could just get a 4.3 bellhousing and that would bolt right up but i want to know for sure and i really don\'t want to pay 500 and some odd dollars for the advanced adapters stuff can anyone help me out with the propor way of doing this please??!!

I went to the salvage yard and got a New Venture 5-speed for mine. I also found that the manual trans out of the Astro and safari vans will bolt up to the 350 without input shaft or quill shaft modification. if you use your tranny you need a bell housing. the quill shaft(where the throw-out bearing rides)and the input shaft probably need to be trimmed back, and then you have to find a clutch that will work with your splines

I am guessing you are trying to use the T5 from the 2.8 or smaller motors. DO NOT use that tranny. Its not worth the time and effort. If you want to keep it a 5 speed, the easiest swap is to find an s-series truck or blazer that had a 4.3. That will most likely have the New Venture 5 speed like Intercepter is using. You can easily identify these tranny\'s because they have no bellhousing. Its all one peice kinda like an automatic tranny. If you can\'t find one from a s-series, the also came in the full sizes.
