ok so my RPMs are at 700 in neutral and park, but when dropping it in gear it drops to about 300 RPMs and always shudders badly and sometimes stalls. i have a 350 and it has some sort of small cam in it.. it was in it when i got it... whats the best way to remedy this problem? is this normal? im sooo lost...
thanks
shouldn\'t it idle round 900 or so, up the idle if i am correct.

mine idle\'s at 1000RPM in park and it falls to about 800 in gear. Turn up your idle so its between 900 to 1000.

double check your timing and the idle up your carb sounds like like timings off if its that far of a drop when in gear

I agree you need to change your idle. I dont have my small block in my s 10 yet, but we had this problem with my friends camaro. We had the idle set too low and it would stall out when we dropped it into gear. There is a little screw on the carb right by where the throtle connects. If that dont do it try checking your timing. You might have to change the weights in you distributor.
