im bout to do the v8 conversion in my blazer, i dont think i wanna go to the trouble of beating out my firewall to make mods for the stock shifter, i want to get a cable operated shifter that goes on the floor, i was lookin at the B&M megashifter for trucks that sit higher, all i really want is a good shifter that has performnce action, looks good, and is reasonably phttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/smileJap.gifd

the B&M light truck megashifter is about the best one you can get for a conversion. It has full ratchet action and can be mounted almost anywhere. Good deal for the money if you ask me !!!

I like my B&M Prostick. I thought it would sit too low on the floor, but it is actuall in the perfect spot...especially if you have either a bench seat or adjustable buckets. It\'s reasonable p r i c e d too

i use the mega shifter for the truck ..it\'s a full rachet shifter or just put it in drive ...i hit the shifter pretty hard at the track and it goes only one gear at a time ...very good quality and nicly phttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/smileJap.gifd

i used the cheapest shifter i could find, it\'s not cable and we just cut a small hole in the floor and bam, no problems with it since. but i am one cheap mofo.

I used the BM Quicksilver and it has a tall base and has full ratchet action. I just don\'t like the ball knob so I put a t-handle on it. Works good though.

I took one from a camaro is was an easy install, had the b&m truck shifter but it was for 3 speed needed 4 speed. 10 bucks for it versus the hundred or so for the b&m still have the b&m brand new nevr used if ya wanna buy it make me an offer.

How is a ratchet shifter different from a regular shifter?

you slap it and it goes to the next gear, slap a regular shifter and it will probaly go all the way into park or all the way down to 1st, depending on which way you slap it.

yes.. .the ratchet shifters are sweet....

esepcially if you have a manual valvebody like in my 49 pontiac, drives just like a standard but no clutch http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
