Just think... If your doing base- clear than you got 2 more full wetsand jobs on it ahead of you still!!! And don\'t forget about the buffing, then hand glaze!!!
I\'ve painted many that way! I prefer enamel it save those extra steps but nothing has that \"deep reach your hand into\" shine of a good quailty base clear job!
Just think though, when your arm feels better, and the paint is dry, and looking great, the smile you\'ll wear when your telling everybody \"yep did it my self\" makes it worth it.

I\'ve seen some shops that don\'t even wet sand anymore. They use a real ultra fine grit sand paper, then a specially prepared compound. The results are very good, I just don\'t know that I\'m ready to make the change.

I sand mine with a 1000 grit (wet) by hand. And then use the 3M three step compound system with a buffer. You start with the coursest, then medium and work up to the finest compound. Then finally I used the finish polisher from 3M that removes the swirl marks if there are any from the compounding. This seems to work very well, but is very labor intensive.
