I have an S-10 that has had the bed off of it for the last 2 yearswhile working on it and doing the bodywork. It looks like it would be a simple matter to make hinges at the back of the frame. The only problem is the rear rollpan and the exhaust tips that come out just below it. Has anyone done this or seen it done? Email me pictures if you have any. Thank you all for the help that you have given to others, and to myself.

maybe cut the frame at an angle to give the clearance for the rollpan. hinges i would think to be a pretty straightforeward thing to do. you could actuate it with a hydraulic ram like a dump truck type setup.

There\'s a guy who lives near me who has done this to several S10\'s, infact he does the conversion then sells them. He puts a fully hydraulic flat dump bed on it and a dually conversion to the rear wheels. I\'m not sure if he does any frame or extra work but ill have to ask him.

i know my brothers shop installs load hogs into trucks. it is a airbag setup. you simply cut off a part of the rear frame, (4 inches at the most) and there is a kit to attach the bumper to the bed instead of the frame, and there is also a compressor that is activated in the cab by a switch. the front mounting points of the bed are taken out and pins are put in their place that locate the bed when it is down. also there are clips that keep the bed from opening up when it is down. but if you just want to open the bed to show off the rear suspension and arent planning on hauling anything i would suggest electric rams or actuators. i may be doing this when i tub out my truck.

there was a kid I went to school with and his was hydrolic it had hinges at the end of the frame and for exaust tips they were slightly lowered he didn\'t raise it very far (less than a 45 degrees) just to clean and to put gas in the tank but there really wasn\'t much done to the frame nor the exhaust

id have to agree with the electric ram. its only 1 piece and a power hookup versus hydraulic with a ram, compressor, and some way to run it. not to mention some place to put the compressor.

Thanks to all of you for the information. Knanthrup, could you try to get information from the guy that is near you? If he has it figured out, and is reasonably priced, I would not mind paying for a pre-made solution.
