Could I just leave the stock 4.3L computer in the truck and leave it hooked to the tranny alone and just run the carbed 350?

ya i would say no too, who knows. but just buy the kit they sell for those trannys. Do it right the first time cuz just a big hassle later to do!

Jegs and Summit both have the painless wiring lock up kit. The painless wiring p/n is 60109. Just go to either site and type in the number. Its about $125 at either place. Hope this helps

i heard you wont have the over drive. that is what the look up kit is for cause the tranny is electric. but someone else wrote about the same thing i would get ride of the 700r4 and get the short shaft th350. every one i have talked to that have the 700r4 doesnt last that long. hope this helps.

maybe I will take a pic of my planetary and sun gears of my old 700R4.lol and post them
Look at my pic\'s I have done this. you must get a lock out kit from summit. Call them 1-800-230-3030 it did not cost much. I think $40 or so? Look at my pic\'s I show how I installed it. easy.

Use the long tail shaft 350 it will bolt up to the stock drive shaft .

using the long shaft 350 will suck if you dont change your rear end gearing you will have a high reving motor on the highway as you will only have 3 gears.
if a 700r4 is built correctly it will last.
yes you can buy a kit for your trans and if you are running a stock 305/350 the trans will give you many long years of reliable service.
if you have a built up motor then I would recommend moving up to a 4 speed thm400 or get a properly built up 700r4.
there are many places that sell kits to convert electric trans to a manual trans do a search on google. or goto a reputable performance trans shop.

If it is a 700R4, all you need to worry about is the lock-up. A 700R4 will have a TV/Kick down cable and a small square plug on the drivers side of the trans. You can set it up to lock only in 4th gear, which is how I did mine. All you need is a normally open pressure switch, and run 12 volts to the trans, then it will lock every time it shifts into OD- and only in OD. You can spend the money on the kit, and that will have a brake cancel switch, and a vacuum switch. Mine works fine without all that though. You will also need a TV cable corrector for the carb, and a bracket for the cable. If you do not use the right stuff the line pressures will be off, and you can burn up your trans. Holley, TCI, and a few other companies make the proper stuff. Search yahoo for a TV cable corrector to find that, I bought mine from a Yahoo shop. The bracket I bought from Summit.
If it is a 4L60E, then you will need a stand alone computer to run it. The 4L60E will not have a TV cable hooked up to it.

Had a stock 350 sb & 350 turbo in my blaze. Got 15 MPG & turned 3000 RPM\'s @ 70 MPH, with stock 3.42 rear.
Now have a built 355 with a 700R with a Hughes 2100 conv. and Hughes internals, running a 9\" with 3.50 gear. It launches better because of the lower 1st gear. Now @ 3000 RPM\'s I\'m running 100 MPH, & getting almost 20 MPG on the highway, Nuff said! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif
