been trying to replace mine and all the parts stores cant seem to find one identical to mine. they keep showing me one with a plastic body and a \"pressure fitting\" on the very end of it for the hydrolic line. it also has a set-screw type bleeder. the one i have has the standard bleeder valve im used to seeing and the \"threaded\" fitting is on the cylinder, not the end. if anyone has one that looks like mine can you give me details on the year and model or a pt#? thanks!

My stock one had a plastic body, and compression fitting.

BigTex,

I went through the same trouble, but luckily I work at a store that I can order any parts from. The slave cylinder most places will give you is for the T5. It\'s really difficult to get around that because a lot of their computers don\'t specify between the two trannies and by far the NV is the more rare one.

Here\'s the slave cylinder you will need (the clean new one... the brown used one is from a T5 so you can compare.

<hr width='200'><img src='images/jpg.gif'>: <a href="http://home.comcast.net/~knanthrup/images/slave2.jpg" BORDER="0" target=_blank><font size="-2">image will open in new window</font></a><hr width='200'>

As you will notice, they are somewhat similar, however the big point is that the NV slave has a much wider flange on it for the wider bolt spread. It\'s more of a short stubby slave than the T5. The one I have is from the brand Raybestos I believe. I can probably get you a parts number as well.

Like I said, been there and gone through that...the next fun part is getting a hydraulic line long enough to reach down and across to the pass. side and still adapting to the metric threads. What I did was went and bought myself some regular long hydraulic lines and then bought thread adapters and put them on each end to make them fit. Works great.

If you have any more questions let me know.

Ok, I just checked and it was a Raybestos slave cylinder that I bought. I looked up the part # from their site and it\'s SC37816. I will double check that tomorrow against my box to make sure it\'s the right one (it\'s 1:30 in the morning) but im sure it is. The key is the \"Except Borg Warner\" on the item description (borg warner is the T5 which you dont want). I bet if you write down that number and take it to your parts shop it will give them a good clue... also tell the the \"Except Borg Warner\" desciption, as that\'s what 90% of parts shops computers will say.

My NV3500 slave was the plastic body also, with the non-threaded fitting.

yea, whatever you do stay away from the plastic ones. i blew up 3 of em in about 2 months. if that part # knanthrup gave you dont work just look thru a bunch of different year s10\'s. also check the fullsize trucks, there was quite a few of them made with 3500s.

thanks for all the help, guys.

knanthrup: the plastic bodied cylinder i described is for the nv as well. the flange matches my cylinder, the thing about it that wont work is the hydraulic connection. ive seen the t5 cylinders and thats not what they gave me. however, the cast part in the picture is EXACTLY what i need! its the same brand as the plastic one kragen gave me, but different hydraulic connection. can you tell me what model s10 it was meant for? ive tried every year s10 i could think of to get the right one! thanks again

BigTex,

I wonder what cylinder it was that they gave you then? There wasn\'t a 3rd manual tranny during these years... The slave cylinder in the pictures is a Raybestos SC37816. I don\'t remember the exact year I used when I put that into the computer but I know that anywhere from like \'90-\'93 gave me the same number. Once again, it must say \"Except Borg Warner\". What parts store are you trying? You may try getting it online, or if all else fails let me know and I can send you one.

I dont think it will be for a 93 4.3 2wd, that is what mine was, and it had the plastic one. I have never had any problems with it, but it is very hard to remove without damaging. I would much rather have the metal one, but I would have to change the whole line and master too.

Big Tex

Try a slave cylinder from a 95 full size pickup with 4.3 and a granny 4 speed. I think thats what you are looking for. That is where mine came from and it is a steel cylinder with a normal bleeder screw.
