I put in a shifter, I followed the manual to the letter. But, when I started it and then went through the gears I CANN\"T get it back into park.
I then went under the truck to check the GM lever & the cable. it\'s like the Cable is just not pushing hard enough to put it in park. BUT if I unhook the Swivel & then stift the GM Lever on the trannyto park the Swivel will be line up with the hole in GM lever. I\'m lost is the shifter in my 350 tranny bad or what?

start by making sure that all your bolts are tight and than put some blocks behind the wheels so you don\'t get ran over and have some one to get in the truck and work the shifter...you can\'t use the stock shifter handle on the tranny ..mine is like a L shaped handle..and goes in the hole closet to the front of the tranny..than if that don\'t work make sure that your cable is\'t binding up or have a kink in it,,,hope this helps,,,good luck http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

OK, I had my buddy the chevy freak come over last night(6:00pm). He opened up the pan worked on the tranny shifter lever on the inside. He took out all the part attached to it. Then he put one hand on the inside lever (bracket) & other hand on the new one on the outside of the case and move them oppsite direction. The inside one any a large amount of play on the shaft, so we lowered the exhaust pipe & raised the tranny up. We got the shaft out & then worked on the inside shifter bracket (with a good old hammer & wise) until it was nice and tight on the shaft. Put it all back together, the tranny now clicks into each gear nicely. It was to late to get new fuilds (11:00pm even Walmart\'s closed) so I\'m get them to day & give it a try to night. Friday the new intake(rpm) & Holly650 go in I hope it\'s easier then the shifter was.
