I have been planning on doing something different and thought of building a midengine V8 S10. Has anyone else ever done this?

I was planning on building a GT40 replica, however I don\'t have the funds for that, but with it being a midengine car I learned alot.

Any info would be great.

there are some people that have put a BBC maybe even an SBC into an S10 where the bed/gast tank was. They used a TH425 as a trans I think. The gastank was relocated under the hood.

So they used a transmission and the rear end?

I was thinking along the lines of a porschetransaxle.

Olds Toronado transaxles are strong and adapters are available to mate the SBC to them.

I had \'drew up\' some plans to doit to a 87 blazer but it never made it past the paper. I had bought a cadiliac, (olds toranado) That i had planned on using the entire nose frame section. The drawings and th idea has since left me and I think I tossed the papers with the measurements. I wanted to make it do wheel stands easily.

The olds Toranado are automatics I am assuming?

Yes, every one of those old front wheel drive ones was automatic.

ive seen one. it on a 2wd 90 s10 xtended cab truck. its lifted like a prerunner and the engine sits in the back of the cab. he put it on a jack and it balanced perfectly. his drioveline angles are a mess though. i never got a chance to see it run. havent seen it in a out a year. looks kinda cool i guess. from what i hear he has alot of overheating problems, even more than before.

After some more investigation it can and will be done!!!! I was going to go with the porsche or audi transaxle but a th425 can be used more easily and inexpensivly. Plus the can handle a load more torque. Not sure as to why the overheating problem, probably need to change to a larger radiator, but thats easy enough. Thanks for the info guys and if anyone know of a good donor truck for sale in new England let me know.

I\'ve seen it done with a Toyota... they\'re common in dirt racing and pikes peak stuff. I haven\'t seen a streetable one though... atleast not in person

An extended cab would be ideal. You could place the engine a little inside the cab. That would give a better drive shaft angle.
