I found two rearends with 4.11 and posi!!!!

One is out of a 87 4x4 and the other out of a 85 4x4. One is $225

Are any chance either one could be a 7 5/8 rear. What about end to end distance? Should i just run rims with offset?

Even found one with disc brakes in a 97 blazer.

he wants 500 for it. 343 gears and he isn\'t sure it\'s a posi.

Any suggestions out there???

i believe all 4x4 are wide i have heard of guys just using off set wheels 7 5/8 were used in 1988 and newer they all sound a little phttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/smileJap.gify but if he knows what he has i guess i\'d almost go for the disc brake one

i have a basiclly new posi from a 95 camaro which has a 7.625 i think it might fit a 7 5/8 i know it has different splines than a 7.5 id sell it cheap pm me if interested

Standard 4x4 rear ends are 4\" wider than a 2wd rear end.

The Zr1 offroad package i the newer s-10\'s is an additional 4\" wider than a stock 4x4, so thats 8\" wider than a 2wd rear end. They won\'t bolt into a 1st gen s-series.

THe F-body won\'t fit a s-series without a few mods.

I\'d spend the couple extra bucks for the disc rear. If both 87 and 85 are basically stock, you might need a rebuild on them. Chances are, the 97 won\'t. And, that is maginally stronger.

the only problem is that they won\'t hold up to alot of power...I have busted two factory limtiied slip rearends and finally went with an auburn setup......I have\'nt had a problem yet !!!!!!!......the factory ones have thin housings compared to the auburn one.....

the new camaro carriers are a direct bolt in into a 7 5/8\'s diff... they ahve the 28 spline axels and yes they are only in the 88 and newer trucks... 87 and down had the smaller 7.5

I must be one lucky S.O.B. or have a weeny motor. I replace my rear end when it had 220,000 on it and the only reason I did that was cuz I finally went to a posi. I put on almost a 100k with the V-8 in it and never blew it up. i pull an 18\' speed boat and can\'t count how many cars on a car dolly with that rear under it.

I went to a 92 2wd rear and put the center section from an 85 Camaro in it and the put the disc set up from the same Camaro on it at the same time. Now have 30k more on it and still no problems. Lucky or what?
