700r4 questions?

Ok I have the trans out of my truck witch was a 4.3 truck and now hooked to the 383 still using the computor. I am trash canning the entire comp system and fuel system for the new motor and was wondering should I keep this trans in there or do they make a trans (700 r4) that does not use a lock-up converter that would make life simpler? I really don\'t want to spen 158.00 that summitt wants for the lock up switch set up on this truck. I also need to know what to do for the speedo. The one in the 89 uses a vehicle speed sensor to controll the speedo and I am currently installing a set of phantom mechanical gauges in the truck and have no idea how to make this cable to work on this tranny.

Is there a site for tech info on all this that I can go to.

Trytransmission center (http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperflist.htm)for 700r4 stuff. And I know autometer makes speedometers for VSS equipped vehicle that will work. But Im not sure what styles have that option.

you have a 4.3 trans behind a 383? expect to be putting a new trans in pretty soon of you are gunna be steppin on it... the 4.3 tranny\'s are not the same as the v8 tranny\'s...

get a b&m rebuild kit!!!

get a trans out of a 86-90 camaro... botls ditrectly in and works very well this is what i\'m using
