Trans help needed

well i burnt out 3rd gear in my 700r4 it sucks needless to say but i have 2 more transmissions to swap in(700\'s also) just not sure how good either of them are. one came originally it my 89 ex cab behind the 4.3 as far as i know this is a good transmission but im not sure, it has rtv sealer around the pan whick kinda scares me. The other was run with the TV cable off and a little low on fluid but never slipped and it shifted fine the fluid is burnt pretty bad in it tho, which one would be the better choice I REALLY dont wanna do this twice, i would do it right but i have 35 bucks to my name and no alternate transportation. which would be the better choice?

id try the one with rtv if the other one smells burn compared to the other id stay away from it an hopfully have one rebuilt before this one takes a crap
