is it possibl to put a 5- speed from a 2.8 behind a 305, with a bellhousing swap? if so , how long should it last? or would it be better to get a different tranny? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

advanced adapters makes a bellhousing swap kit for around $400 for a t5. But, you can buy a really good th350 for about $100-200 more and I would do that! However it is a 305.... I don\'t know what do you guys think?!

You also have to do plenty of machine work to the input shaft and retainer, and maybe the clutch. Plus the adaptor. And, chances are, you are gonna break it. Which, could cause it to lock up while your driving. My opinion, find another tranny.

$300 is too much for a saginaw. I\'ve got 3 of them.... 2 were free and the other i gave $130 for with all the stuff to convert my Camaro to a 4 speed.

i wouldn\'t put that behind that motor, all i have heard is that it wouldn\'t last

what i meant by $300 was Canadian money,... in American dollars its about $130 - $140

yeah, let us know how hard it is to fit the saginaw though. id imagine its gonna take some good work to get the driveshaft and crossmember and shifter to line up where you need them.

I kept my T5 when I installed the 305 11 years ago and 308K miles later it\'s still running strong and serving as my daily driver. I\'ve helped on quite a few other V8 S10 swaps and keeping the manual trannny actaully made mine easier. The only adapter I got came from Adavance Adapter and it was a bracket for my clutch slave cylinder (I went with the Toyota Land Cruiser type.) I\'m running the centerforce clutch and pressure plate, a stock GM V8 bellhousing, the old style clutch fork and a 157 tooth flywheel. As far as the tranny you have to shorten the input shaft tip 7/16\" and the input shaft bearing retainer 1 1/4\". Piece of cake and having the 5 spd sure makes driving the Blazer a blast. I\'ve also done quit a bit of towing. I\'m looking to install a new crate 350 and plan on sticking with the T5. That is unless I can find a good deal on a T56.
