Hey guys,

I have spent a lot of time reading comments on this great site. I believe the most controversial topic is what rear end will work in an S10. Can we all agree that a 7 5/8 28-spline axel with about $300 in upgrades will work in an automatic S10 w/ a 350 HP engine? I am talking about the cruiser with an occasional posi burnout.

That rear is fine as long as you have a good posi. Next winter I am going to build my 383 with 450 horsepower and run the same diff with a rear end support cover, and maybe a 100 shot of nitrous until it blows. Then replace with a 9 inch.

I am running a ford 8.8 with disk set up posi.

With 350 horse, you should be fine with 28 spline and an aftermarket posi.

Wild85, I hope you are talking about blowing the rear end and not the engine.

Thanks for the feedback. I bought a nice 95 4 cyl stick. The truck is in great shape and I cannot find any rust on it. The complete front end was replaced about 3 months ago (hood, fenders, grill, bumper, and cowel) when I hit a kid on a bicycle. He is okay and it happend on a stormy night. He blew through an intersection just missing the truck in front of me. He was there before I had time to react. One of the reasons I want to take it easy with the V8. I plan on having it on the road by MAY.
