now that i hve the thing running its showing a whole new list of problems. the most obvious is a rear end noise ONLY when im coasting or decelerating. under power it disappears. it sounds like a bearing out of sinc or something, kinduv a high pitched rattling. the faster i go the worse it is. does this sound familiar to anyone? also, could it be a ring and pinion misaligned?

i forgot to mention the t5 tranny seized pretty violently back when it had the 2.8, which is what convinced me to start the swap in the first place. thought that might be when the rear was possibly damaged because it never ran again after that until now...

I would say it\'s the ring and pinion angle. I had my tranny mount blowout and it did the same thing. I would check your alignment.

Usually if it whines on the coast side that is either a bearing going bad or an improperly set up gear set. If the rear was rebuilt it could be that the cruch sleeve wasn\'t compressed either enough or too much. Has the rear been rebuilt? If not, pull the cover and check the oil and condition of the gear set. Their should be some metal in the oil, but not a lot, or no large pieces. It should look like a fine powder mixed with the oil.
