Hello and finally joined, Ok I have been doing my reading and looking and going to buy the JTR book but wanted to lear to swim before I jumped in the pool! Ok I have the Vortec 4.3L V6 with Auto and have 8\" of lift on 33\'s. The lift I have drop the front Diff 5\" so if I have been reading right that is a plus?? I have the 700r4 Trans so that is a plus?? Ok When I go to buy my engine what year is the best? or should I look for a certin Auto to pull it out of? If this thing is going to be in the mud alot I need something with torque and can take the abuse Should I find a TBI or TPI ?? Trying to get everthing in a row before I just jump right in. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

Well come to the community. How did you get all that lift with the ifs. I about 3 inches by droping the diff and cranking the tbars.

As for the eingie id your actually going to be riding the truck hard like it sounds you definately want to stay with the fuel injection.

The TBI will be fine bu the tpi is better, but alot harder to do.

Welcome! I\'d suggest either TBI or TPI. better fuel mileage, more reliable. Choose depends on cash and ability. Sounds like your able. 8\" of list in a s10? Did you convert the FE to solid axel? I know they make a raise kit for IFS but I thinks 5\" is max and that includes tightening the t-rods. Got any PICS?

The Lift consist of 3\" Body and 5\" Sup. The tires bearly fit 33\'s by 12.5 on 15x10.5 rims had to cut a little on the fenders but when I finally got a chance to take it off road with the new sup lift a tore the fenders up and going to have to do alot more cutting. So the TBI is the best way to go? Is the any particular years to look for?

tbi is tbi. dont matter what year you look for. i do believe it started roundabout 86. you can find it on everything from little 1 liter metro engines up to 454\'s. i have a 305 tbi in my 86 s10, ive heard alot of people complain about tbi. as far as im concerned its almost totally idiotproof. you can find tbi 350s in just about everything from caprices and camaros to damn near every fullsize truck gm made between 86 and 95.

In the early 90\'s gm switched to the 4l60 which is a electric version of a 700. But to use the 4l60 you need either the fuel injection to go with the vortec motor or use a stand alone computer.

I dont know if the throttle body off the vortec motor will work with the 700. You would need to be able to hook up the Throttle Valve Cable to te Throttle Body linkage.
