Depends on what your using it for, if your drag racing it supplies better traction and less spin which equates to a faster time, if your like me and play in the mud or mud drags having a posi read end and posi front end means more power is getting to the wheels and a faster time through the mud, or if you live in a place that has snow and ice there is a better chance to get better traction on one side or the other to get unstuck, the downside of posi is once you get it stuck it is generally really stuck and a real pain to get out..... One of the best things on the market now is the detroit locker airlockers, this will allow you to only use posi when you need it, I have this on the back of my 91 camero and only use it when on the drag strip.

Another thing to consider, and probably not too many people have to worry about it, is that in the winter on snow or on wet road conditions the truck can really get loose if you aren\'t careful.

Better than the Air-lockers is the new Auburn and Detroit electric lockers. With an air locker sometimes you have to chase air leaks, and you also need an air compressor. With an electric locker all you do is run a switch and supply power. We sell them at work, and they are over $500, but you get the everyday driveability of an open rear with the full trction of a spool at the flip of a switch.

A posi helps out alot with traction. Seldom, I go 4 wheeln\' but when I do, I know that when the rr tire is hangin in the air, the lr tire is bitting and moving my truck so I don\'t get stuck. I have a lincoln locker (welded by licoln). and in rainy weather you with a posi you have to take it easy around corners! Or you will do donuts unexpectdly.

The air lockers are pretty easy to install, you out the aircompressor either behind the seat if its a pickup or if its a Blazer the spot for the jack and spare tire in the back work awesome, you have to gut your rearend to install, but I have yet to hydraplane in the rain or spun out in the snow {unless I am trying to} downside is the cost
