What is the easiest way to put a distribuitor back in after it was removed? do i really have to take of the balancer and tc cover to line up the marks on the gears or is there a faster route?

its pretty easy. make sure #1 cylinder is on tdc. put the distributor in the engine and make sure the rotor is pointing towards the #1 cylinder. put the cap on and time it and your set.

Pull the sparkplug on number one, put your thumb or finger over the hole, have someone bump the starter until you feel the compression in the cylinder. That\'s when you are coming up on TDC for number one. Check your timing mark on your balancer and bump it or turn it by hand until you are really close. Then it\'s easy to finish setting the distributor and fire it up to set the timing. I just did that this weekend and got it so close that no further adjustments have been needed.

If you use the timing chain marks you are on number six, not number one.
