Sorry for the questions, but I\'m new to S10/blazers. I just got a 1993 4x4 blazer given to me, the engine has just over 200k on it. I\'m pretty sure the change engine soon light came on a while ago http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif I want to smack a chevy 350 in it with a carb. The motor should bolt up to the electronic 700r4? or can I ditch the 700r4 and transfer case and use a real 700r4 or a TH350 and make it rear wheel drive? Would I need to change the crossmember to do that, also can I drive it around with a front axle not hooked up to anything?
: image will open in new window

If u are refering to a real 700r4 as one froma full size, then dont waste the money buying a new tranny cus the one u have has the same internals. Also, the blazer is already rear wheel drive. and not sure about not having the front drive shaft hooked

You can run with out a front driveshaft. Infact the front drive shaft spind in 2 wd drive but its not power from the transfercase. it gets spun by the front diff. So the only thing is if you remove the shaft you ill havejust the yoke on the diff spinning by itlsef. As long as there is nothing that can get caught on it youll be fine
