On my 84 S10 the red wire from the alternator goes to a block on the firewall then back to a junction with one of the two red wires that come of the positive post on the starter. What is the function of this block? I relocated my battery to the bed and have a 10 gauge wire from the one wire alternator I\'m using going to the small post of the battery disconnect switch at the rear bumper. Then from the other side of the switch to the battery. Do I need this block? I don\'t think so because the wire it connects back to will be supplied from the starter positive connection. Looking for input on this question. Thanks.

Usually, that\'s where all of the main circuits get their 12 V from. One wire probably goes inside you your interior stuff that needs 12 V, and so on.

The block on the firewall is not part of the large junction block near the brake booster. It is in the upper middle section of the firewall and does not have any connection into the passenger compartment. Since it connects directly back to the 12 volt line that comes off the large positive terminal at the starter I was curious about the blocks function.

Thanks,
