i got a 454!!!!

my dad finally decided to let me have the 454 from our 85 suburban!!!!!!!!!!!!

now i need a tranny, will my t5 work or what is the best option (i want 5 or more forward gears).

Your T5 should work behind a big block....

Until the first time you get past half throttle.

Really though, you will have a hard time finding many modern 5 speeds that will stand up to a big block. A Tremec TR3550, T56, NV4500, maybe a few more. I don\'t know that I would trust a NV3500 behind a bigblock for to long.

I have a nv 4500 behind my 900 ft. of torque Turbo cummins it does fine well better than the two clutches i\'ve put in! They are known to have a week 5th gear nut that can easly be replaced.

The NV4500 is the way to go unless you can find a deal on a Richmond 5speed.
