I think a bfg 295/50 will fit on a 8\" rim.
Yes, 295/50s fit with about a half inch it spare...

an 8\" wheel, you want 4.5 or 5\" bs. You can go 5.5\", but will tuck the wheel way under the truck.
I like mine just at the fender lip

I put on 295\'s... It\'s a bit much. Picked them up used and will mount them for track days.
It will fit, had to tie back my emergency brake cables. With load in the box it will rub on the inner wheel well. Had about 300 pounds of crap and have marks in undercoating. Anymore weight it would have been binding.
email for pics.

295s are pretty big to put on an 8\" wheel, I ran 275/60/15s on 8\" wheels and they looked nice.
Heck I only ran 315/60/15 when my truck was mini tubbed
I run 275/60 tires on my 8 inch corvette rally\'s. They look real good and fill up the well decent without loering it. Kory

I got 295/50/15\'s on i\'m not sure what width rim.. probably 8\". The back spacing is not correct either, so they stick out about 1\" out the wheel well. But my trucks not lowered at all so it\'s fine. Looks OK, but not great. I don\'t have dough to buy different rims with the right back spacing to make the tires fit. *shrugs*

man you guys are running wide tires on such skinny rims. i guess i\'m just used to my camaro with big inch diameter rims. i have 17x8 rims on my camaro and i run 245/45/17s on mine. i could probably safely go up to about 255 but don\'t want to risk it.
oh and 82longbed, you do understand how to read tire sizes right? the 295 is the width of the tread in millimeters and the 60 is the sidewall height, which is a percentage of the width of the tire.the 15 would be the diameter of the rim.
