how can i tell if my 9\" is posi some times i get both to spin some times only one i dont know if it my need rebuild or re placed when i change gears

The indicator would be if both tires don\'t both spin under hard acceleration, this indicates the clutches slipping.

Raise the vehicle up in the back and try to turn one tire. If the other tire turns the opposite way, then it is not a posi rear. If they spin the same way or not at all, then it is posi and probably needs work or replacement. Sometimes even an open rear will spin both tires slightly depending on the circumstances.
