Stock width?

I just read in another post that the 94 and up rear diff\'s were wider???...I know that the 4x4\'s are wider but I never knew that the 2nd gen was wider than the 1st gen 2wd....can somebody add to this???

the 2nd gen bodies were different. The frame is the same. The rear ends are the same too.



I actually am swaping out mine right now. Found a 4.11 posi rear that Im gonna throw in. Anyhow, the rear end measured 54 1/2\" from the mounting surface of the drums.



The 4wd rear ends are supposed to be 4\" wider, so they should be 58.5\" wide.



The ZR2 rear ends from the offroad package, are supposed to be an additionall 4\" wider than a regular 4x4 rear end. The Stealth coversions book claims that it won\'t even fit in the body of a 1st gen. So, that one should be around 62.5\" wide.

ZZ....Thanks for the reply....saved Me finding an older one and measuring.....I read that other post and was like huh?? what???...almost gave Me a coronary...

I thought they were the same, but when I swapped My original diff for a low mileage one and then even installed a posi unit I just never gave it a thought to measure the width...
