I pulled a 700r out of an 84 s-10 and went with a new 700r with my zz4. I plugged the cable back into new tranny but the lockup isn\'t working. The guy at the transmission shop told me to check the vacuum switch near the cruise control unit, and it\'s fine. Any suggestions?

I would think that the trans thinks its not ready to lock up yet. Myabe the vac switch is out af adjustment. Maybe the downshift cable is a hair to tight.

don\'t know if it relates, but I have a few oddball electrical problems too. voltmeter, panel lights cause door buzzer, cruise. trying to get a wiring diagram for \'84 to chase down those.

the guy from the transmission shop drove it to set the cable at the right tension. what kind of adjustment on the vac switch? as of now it closes the switch when vacuum is applied. closed at idle.

I will see if I can get a diagram for you tommorrow. I had gotten one from Alldata when I converted the 87 EFI 2.52wd into a 2.0l 84 4x4 s10. Its in my toolbox just have to go look for it. I\'ve got errands to run in the am so I should be able to have it in the afternoon.
It spossible that the are all realted problems.

Check the brake switch for the lock-up. If that switch isnt adjusted right, the trans thinks you are always on the brakes and wont allow the trans to lock-up.
