View Full Version : Stall Coverter and Lockup Electronics (700R4)

Ok i have an 87 700R4. i have TV kit from 700r4.com and the TCI lockup control(not installed yet) Lookin at getting a stall converter somewhere like 2000-2500 or 2500-2800. if i get a non lockup converter do i have to worry about installing the TCI kit?

i think all overdrives are a lock up ...

They might make a non lock up convertor for the 700,but I\'m not sure. I would call TCI and find out.

ya i they do thats my ques. if i get a non-lockup convertor do i have to wire the trans to not use lockup? or can i just leave the wiring alone since i wont have a lockup convertor?

No you would not have to use the tci kit. But a 700 will easily burn 3/4 clutch pack if drove on the street much with a 3500 converter with ouyt a lock-up. Unless your rpms in overdrive stay at or above 3500. I would buy a lockup convertor, call BTE (bill taylor enterprises) they will work with you to find the best convertor for you application. He is the best in the business, after all he is the one who started tci and was a pioneer in this field.
