Should I use my current 700R4 in my truck when I put the 350 in it on use a Turbo 350 with a shift kit and a fairly low miles? The 700 has 100+ thousand. Also, if I decide to go witht he th350 do I have to shorten the rear drive shaft or do any custom mods to get it to fit? Thanks Brad

th350 or 700r4??? It all really depends on what you want... at least until you said that the 700 has 100k+ miles on it. Everyone knows that the 700 isn\'t dependable under higher horsepower engines.... let alone with that much mileage on it. You can purchase performance rebuild kits for it from B&M for around $250 from Summit or Jegs. They will make a pretty dependable 700r4 up to around 425 hp.... much more than that and you will need a th350. Anyone who tells you otherwise needs their head examined. The application is what is most important. If you are building your s-10 to run at the strip, then I would definately go with the 350. If you are building it for the street and plan to drive it often, and occassionally bust a mustangs azz with it... then the 700 looks like a better option for you. The biggest thing to remember is if you want dependability and consistency on the strip... you want the 350. And yes, most likely you will have to adjust your crossmember and driveshaft. If you want power when you need to prove yourself to the ever-growing festation of stock 5.0L and 4.6L mustang owners that think their car is fast... then most likely the 700r4 is the best bet for you. Not to mention, if you have a 4.3l v6, you won\'t have to adjust your drivetrain for 700r4. Any questions feel free to email me. OH... I wouldn\'t go anything less than a gm 10-bolt rear... found on most of the full-size trucks and will bolt up with little trouble... just swap it out... keep your original leaf springs though... you may also want to use ladder bars on the rear to eliminate wheel hop caused by your new found horsepower and light weight body.

What about a 4x4 with a 350. It orig. had a 2.8 and t5 tranny. What tranny should I use? Which is the best? Changed my mind. I just bought a 2wd blazer for $400.
