I need some help selecting the correct transmission. I am insatlling a 1978-1979 350 into a 1994 S10 short box. I want to buy a transmission, but not sure which one.

I don\'t want it needing a computer so I am sure it needs to be an older one. If it matters, the truck was a 4 cyl 5 speed auto, which begs the question, what trans support.

Thanks in advance

t-350 would be good. plentiful and easy to shift kit.

700r4 with the computer elimnator kit would also work.

Personaly I like the t350 better. Its only down flaw is it doesn\'t have a 4th gear for fuel mileage.

Thanks for the info, but does it matter what year of part number it is?

it matters what the use is going to be? 700r is good for mild performance and very good on gas mileage but not good for hard abuse like continuios drag racing or young teenager. th350 is very good can take fair amount of abuse. th350c is lock up convertor type , it is junk came out in 1981-1986 g body. th400 can take almost any abuse a sbc can give it, these came out in trucks or 70s muscle cars
