Is this conversion possible? I have also considered using an LT1. What would be required as far as drivetrain is concerned? A belltech lowering kit is also on my list, as i will only need the 4wd for occasional snow. Tell me what you guys think.

Everyone knows that a v-8 does not fit into an s-10. Duh, its a tiny truck.

Everything is possible. The major problem you are going to run into with that particular swap is that you need a special oil pan to clear the front differential. There are several oilpans made specifically for swapping small blocks into 4x4 S10s, but none that I know of for LS1 engines. I believe JTR has one in the works, but it is not availible yet.

I am currently in the stage of fitting an lt1, I have found that the oil pan is the same as a reg 350 and also the drivers side mounting, but you would have to get, or make a custom pan, and I am working on a custom mount for the passengers side because the bolt holes are upside down and 3 or so inches rearward of otherside. As far as an Ls1, there is mounts available on the net, i\'ve seen them on ebay, but your going to have to make a custom pan, where you will probably need a stripped block, and a tig welder, because every thing is aluminum.
