Well hope you studied for ASE testing. If your taking them. I have 3 recert\'s to take. Yea can\'t waite- not! Some of the questions seem like ther designed to trick you.
Tech A says Worn brake pads on a car with Anti-lock brakes will cause the brake pedal to pulsate.
Tech B says Thickness variation in the brake rotors will cause the brake pedal to pulsate.
A: tech A is correct
B: tech B is correct
C: Both tech A & Tech B are correct.
D: Neither Tech A or B is correct.
Got ya thinking Didn\'t I!
Well if your taking the recerts theres only usually @ 20 questions like that. And if your taking the regular tests I thinks theres 40 of them.
So Good Luck!!! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
Space!!!
Yeah I know what you mean. I am taking Auto tech at my local college and we have those kind of questions all the time which drives me nuts. Good luck on them.

Im registering for the CBT ase testing in july..taking 4 ase tests..already in the books..lol
Brakes
electrical/electronic systems
heating and ac
suspension and steering....
Fun stuff...not..but goes with the job I guess
Heres an electrical one for you...
The instrument voltage regulator [IVR] used in a guage circut needs to be tested
Technician A says to connect a test light to the IVR output terminal; If the light flashes, the IVR is bad
Technician B says to connect a test light to teh coolant temp sending unit; if the light flashes the IVR is good
A only
B only
Both
Neither

I\'m recert for those! How\'d you know? Welll ac is next week. Fun! For the cost of the tests I question if there really worth it. A guy i work with says the credentials will get him big money when he quits and find another J.o.b.

Yeah, the only reason im even taking the tests is to have proof of my knowledge on paper..and helps when putting in a salary on the resume...
The answer to your question would be B correct...as worn pads would make a slightly lower pedal, but it wears flat..but varing thickness along the rotor would cause a pedal jounce and or steering wheel shimmy while braking...or I could be wrong..lol

Thanks 92sdime quote \"the answer to my question in the ase testing is B....As long as the sensors are showing a voltage reference signal..then the IVR is good...\"
Sorry OOPs,
I was thinking of a resistor that ford had installed. It was not a Instrument Voltage regulator.
Ford installed a resistor for this problem and not a IVR:
Ford installed them in a TSB for most of the late 80\'s andearly 90\'s cars and pick up\'s. Customers would complain that when thier car idoled the oil pressure would be low and when they drove the oil pressure would be high. So, to solve the problem Ford installed a resistor and as long as there was at least 8psi oil pressure the gauge would always read evenly in the middle of the gauge. Ifthe pressure droped below that the gauge would drop to \'0\'.

Has anyone taken the Advanced engine performance specialist test?....From what I understand..its a damn difficult test.

Thanks 92sdime. I figured that after wards. I was thinking of a resistor instead of a regulator. If it were a question about a resitor I would have had it correct! Besides, I won\'t make that mistake twice.
I HATE tests!!! Get those brain freezes.
Thanks All Respect.

I took it last year and it was easier than I thought. Most of the questions were more basic engine, ignition, and driveability. There were only a few questions regarding any emissions or gas analyzer and all that. I think that I have 4 or 5 recerts this year. At least my dealer pays for the testing.

once upon a time i was master certified with some of the heavy truck tests completed. but due to my own dumb thoughts while i was in the Army, i let it all expire. now that i am out, it is so far out of date that i have to start over completely. what ever you do, DON\'T ever LET THEM EXPIRE!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!
even if you are working in a totally different field of work

2 of mine expired 3 years ago. and the other ones expired last year. They are letting me take recerts no questions asked.
