I\'m not looking for another \"here\'s where you can take your truck to have it converted\" site. who\'s not afraid to cut it up to make the ride they want?? just tired of the whiners and the people who want to do something like convert an S-10 to V8 without cost OR effort. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif get in there, get dirty, learn something, and share the experience!! at least this is what i\'ll attempt to do. hardcore DIY\'er... the only way to a ride you can be proud of. what\'s your opinion?

I hear what you are saying. I have been asked more times then I can count, \"Is it hard to do? How much is it gonna cost?\". If you don\'t have the knowledge or money, don\'t start this project.

hell yea...it took me over a year to build my truck..i worked a full time job in the day and worked on it at night...i have a wife and 3 kids...and you know what. not one person helped me on any thing ..i either made the parts that i needed or i waited until i had the money to buy them...and you know what i am more proud of my truck than my cousin is of his 50,000 ride that he paid some one to build...around here it;s not what you buy but what you build... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

i hear that. i am 21 and i just spent 6 months building the motor for my truck. i went to a technical school and did all the work myself. from boring the block to assembling the whole motor. it then took me 4 months to get the swap done. then i drove it for 2 weeks and the cops say that it is illegal because of the emissions. damm police http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

Ok, this is a good subject...I work full time,go to school part time for a bachlers degree and still built my truck, it took a damn long time but it is mine and i\'m damn proud of it. It may look like crap and but everything under that body i either built or replaced and soon I WILL do the body work and I WILL paint it. I built it for the fact that i knew i could. Sure i could of bought a new xtreme or something but my truck is my pride and joy. Nobody could ever put a price on that!!!!!!!!!

I know what you guys are saying. Wife wants a house. kids want this or that, that they just gotta have. meanwhile the 350 patiently waits.

I\'ll step in. I\'m 17, I\'ve had my \'84 S10 since I was 11. Bought it for 200 bucks at the time. Since then I have basically pulled it to pieces and put it back together a few times and have learned everything from experience. Now I have a daily driver that I bought myself after working some long ass hours which has opened up the oppurtunity for me to start on my V8 S10 project.

One thing I will say though is that a lot of times I will ask how much stuff costs and bring that factor into it because I do not have a ton of money at the time being a student and working at the same time so my version of this coversion will be the most cost efficient/bang for your buck... basically until I get some more money and do some heavy upgrading... don\'t get me wrong I don\'t plan on going lightly, I have large plans, I just need to go in steps http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Anyways I\'m tired of my friends gawking over these stupid civics and integras and VW\'s and whatnot, it my chance to show them what real american muscle can do.

I am right there with you all. I am n0w 20 and I bought my 85s10 when I was fiveteen and my dad helped me and taught me what he knew on building automobiles. So now I know and I currently do all teh work on it myself. He is currently restoring a 50 chevi five window pickup. But honestly I have to give it to my dad for showing me all he knows. Now im in college and work full time and drive it everyday. Im always getting compliments on it to.

Yeah i hear you guys.

im 20 now but my father first did all the suspesion work(lifted it a total of 6.5\") and did the V8 conversion to a 305tbi.

I got it just before turning 19 and spent about 5000 canadian on this year to fix it up.

I swaped in a rebuilt 350 with performance cam and pistons and intake. then the tranny blew, replace the 83 700r4 with a 87 700r4 with carbon fiber torque converter, custom shift kit, extra clutch packs, corvette servos, manual torque convertor lockup. etc etc.

I have learned so much this year about my truck that even though its 4x4 and lifted i still love to beat up on souped up civics.

I am only 15, I guess that makes me the youngest member on this site. I currently have 2 jobs that I am using to save up enough money to buy a wrecked 95 s-10. The front end is smashed in so I figure I can get the truck, put the new style grille conversion and a cowl hood on it. I would like to put a lt1 into it and slowly build up the HP. It will be a long time before I get even near getting enough money for a lt1 so in the meantime I am going to try to learn everything I need to know about the conversion and will be able to do it by myself.
