i have a 94 pu that had a vortec v6 in it. i want to put a carbed 383 in it, my question is there a book or any thing to guide me on the underhood wiring of my new motor. any help is really appreciated thanks gary http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

well i have the same thing. to get the motor running wiring isnt hard at all. run purple(small) and big red from bat. to started another red from harness to alt theres a thick pink wire on harness you need to tap into for your dist. for a carbed engine thats really all you should need (correct me if im wrong)



now if you want to run stock gauges. ??? i started to but then decided to go with autometers.

I just did the same on a 96. You can use the stock gauges too. You need an adapter to go to a smaller oil hole in the block the water temp goes right in and you run the white wire off the alt to your volt gauge.

Can I get some help from one of you guys? I can call you to save on the phone bill if you like. I swapped out the 4.3 vortec in my 97 to a carbed 350. Well, I thought I hooked everything up but when I turn the key nothing....... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif I checked the grounds and I am just missing something. Could anyone help? I have the big red wire and the medium purple wires going to the starter. and the red wire going to the alternator. I jumped the fuel test terminal to the battery and it turns on the fuel pump. I touched the starter terminals real quick with a screw driver and it started to turn over. I just can\'t get any power for some reason. I turned the wipers and lights on with the key turned so when I touched or pluged in the right wire it would turn things on so I knew I found it. NO GO !!! I checked all the fuses also. Any idea\'s Its been two days and way to many hours looking for this problem.
