ive got an 86 4x4 blazer and i am wondering if i could use a camaro t-5 and still use the stock transfer case. would the shifter get in the way?

You would have to switch to a 4x4 S10 mainshaft, extension and shifter. They would both have to be either world class or standard T5\'s for all the neccesary parts to interchange. In your case you would need a standard Camaro T5, which would be no real improvement over what you already have.

I will double check when I go to work, but I believe they may have made a Astro AWD T5 in world class. If so, that would be the perfect set up for a V8. The 4.3 bell, clutch, and T5 trans would all switch right over to a V8, and the pattern for the T-case is the same.

T56 was never available in a 4wd. Your main option for a stronger trans would be a 4.3 S10 NV3500. The full size truck trans has the bolt pattern for a f/s t-case, so the S10 version would be more interchangeable.

i appreciate all your help... one more question if you dont mind, A 4L60E and a T-56 are the same, So how does a 4x4 4L60E and a 2WD 4L60E compare? Maybe I could find a transfer case from a Full Sized pickup that would fit a T-56? I am just trying to figure out what works. Thanks dude http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

P.S. I will most likely go with the NV3500 but i am just weighing my options because money isnt really a factor

A t56 is a manual 6 speed, and a 4l60e is a 4 speed automatic. A t56 was only used in camaro/firebird, cts-v, gto and corvette as far as gm is concerned, and then the mustang cobra and viper. If you want an automatic you could use a 4l60 with no problem. If you are going to do a LT1, the 4l60 would be the best choice for ease of installation, then probably the NV3500.

thanks, i may just go with an automatic, it depends the deal i can find on an LT1
