I have a 88 s-10 short bed. It came with a 4 cylinder,2.5 I think and 5speed trans.Does anyone have any idea what the gear ratio is. Also, what is the backing plate to backing plate measurement. I was told a rear out of a 84 camaro would fit as far as width. Does anyone know.Has anyone put a camaro rear in?

you\'ll have to check the code # on the decal in the glove box for the specs on your rear (they\'re listed in the rear end forums somewhere on this site) as far as the camaro rear....it won\'t fit beause it\'s too wide (about 6 inches if i remember right) you can swap out the gears though if that\'s what you\'re wanting.

I used the posi unit out of an early camaro in mine

oh yeah...i think the measurement from backing plate to backing plate in your s-10 is 54\"

if you have time to search in past forums you can find all the codes for what gearing you have in your truck and pretty much any other thing u want to know if you can find it

If you are going to swap internals, make sure the spline count for the axles and case match. The housings are the same in the center, but there is a late and early.
