View Full Version : Plug Wire Routing
Built 331\" SBC in S-10. Just wondering if most are running plug wires under or over their headers? Looking hard at the Sanderson headers. Want them to last. Thanks, Rob

Hey Rob, If you click on the \"camera\" and look at my pix, you\'ll see how I ran my wires, which is over the headers. And yeah, in those pix you\'re looking at 1-5/8\" Sandersons.

Scotty, are those angle plug heads?? If so, how difficult is it to change \'em??

No, straight plugs, Edelbrock heads. Not that difficult to change plugs, once you get a \"plan\"! Obviously, the rear 4 are tough, the front 4 area \"in your face\". Earlly on, I realized that what I needed to do was make a special spark plug socket. I took a cheapie spark plug socket (It MUST be a cheapie, because the better sockets don\'t have the \"hex\" going the length of the socket, the cheapies do) and I cut it off, short. I slide it over the plug, and then can put a 3/4\" open end or box wrench on it. The plugs are sunk in too deep to simply put a 5/8\" box wrench on them.

Oh. It was hard for me to tell from the photos what heads you were running. For my plug wrenching needs, I found that the Craftsman boxed end offset wrench worked best.
5/8-11/16 offset wrench (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&fromAu to=YES&bidsite=CRAFT&pid=00944318000)
Anyone running angle plugs? What\'s your take on changing plugs?? And routing wires?? Later, Derek
