Just a question if I may. Im not telling you how to do anything, and I\'m not putting down tubs... but if i may ask.. why exactly do you want to tub the truck. If your afraid of not hooking up, a buddy of mine has a 1200HP Buick Regal that hooks just fine with a 10\" tire. Remember those tires are HEAVY thats more weight to turn and more HP its going to rob. Just my 2cents.

people can hook with 10\" tire but i bet he would go faster with more grip. And the backspacing on the wheels isnt so critical if you tub.

grip is grip no matter how you look at it.. either it bites or it doesnt.. and i bet he WONT go faster cuz hes wasting more HP to turn those big monster tires., more rubber.. more weight.. bigger rims... more weight.
Besides, ANYONE can get a vehicle to hook by tubbin it, it takes SKILL to get BIG power to the ground with a 10\" tire http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Listen to these guys; get a prefab kit. I tubbed mine myself and it sucked. The only reason that I did mine myself is I had a guy that builds race car frames help me. I bought the steel and used his welder and he helped me and it cost me probably $500.00. Sounds cheap but it wasnt. I could not have done it if it wasnt for this guy. He even cut my 9 inch and welded the ends back on and put disk brakes off of a lincoln on it. Again, get a kit. I used the rear leafsprings to save money and I guess it works fine, just wished I would have forked the extra cash for coilovers. As you can see from the pics my truck was built back in the mid 80\'s and doesnt get driven much but Im gonna change all that. S&W s kit is nice. A freind of mine put his in and is very nice. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

my friend here in tulsa...has a 12.20 truck on motor and runs 10.40 on the bottle....he has no tubs just a set of slick with caltracks...big slicks are heavy ....it takes lots more power to turn a 12-15 in wided slick than a 10 in wide slick.....now if you are a prostock truck with a 2000 horse motor ..than yea tubbing would be the way to go...but on the good side a tubbed out s10 looks bad ass...
