View Full Version : COST FOR A TRANNY REBUILD???

OK, STARTING THE COVERSION, RIPPING MY 4.3L WITH 127K OUT AND PUTTING IN A 350. THE TRANNY WORKS GOOD,SHOULD I REBUILD IT RIGHT AWAY, AND HOW MUCH WOULD REBUILD SET ME BACK??? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

What tranny is it? and why rebuild it if it works fine already?

I BELIEVE IT IS THE 700R4, THAT WAS STOCK WITH THESE I BELIEVE.

the tranny will work fine as long as you don\'t plan on running it extreamly hard and mating it to a 300+ hp engine it just won\'t last with that kind of power, they were not the same tranny as the camaro ones or anything they had different internal components... if your planing on having lots of power then get a b&m rebuild kit, well worth the money and make sure you get a well experienced person to work on it maybe talk to some of the mechanics you know and see if you can get a half decent deal on it by paying them cash... these trannys are quite complicated to work on so don\'t attempt it yourself
